lexi welch uses video, photography, sculpture, text, and sound as conduits for unstable representation. Across discipline, the work underscores the fraught relationships between legibility, narrative, and the image in order to provoke alternative methods of making meaning through desire, disorientation, and ambivalence. This practice is driven by a critique of ‘visibility’ and ‘inclusion’ as central political and aesthetic agendas, exposing the way these ideals limit divergent experiences and promote assimilation. Content emerges from the bedroom, the club, the bay windows, the side of the road, the rooftop, nighttime, the city and the underworld.

lexi holds a BA in Film and Electronic Arts from Bard College, an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania, and attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2022.
